Okay. I’m a guy, so I hate talking on the phone. I don’t really mean phone. I mean text, phone, communicate through social media, something.
There are few things worse than living through the first holiday without your children – especially young children. And if you have a friend that has just started going through a divorce – or even has gone through one since last Christmas – there is a chance that today is the first major holiday that he or she does not have his or her children with them.
It is even worse if your friend does not have other family that live close and may be spending the holiday alone.
Now is a great time to reach out and just check on your friend. A text, or message, or call can make all the difference in the world to them.
I know. I’ve been there. And I was extremely lucky that I had good friends that invited me over for the holiday meal and helped me forget about not having my two little ones and not having any family within 1000 miles.
If you don’t have any friends that are going through a divorce and you haven’t gone through one, then you have a lot to be thankful for!
Happy Thanksgiving, and here’s hoping that next year, you can be thankful that you haven’t had to talk to any lawyers (on a professional basis) during the year!
